{"id":669,"date":"2015-01-25T20:11:02","date_gmt":"2015-01-26T01:11:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jonesling.us\/blog\/?p=669"},"modified":"2015-01-25T20:11:02","modified_gmt":"2015-01-26T01:11:02","slug":"sledding-in-wilmington","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.jonesling.us\/?p=669","title":{"rendered":"Sledding in Wilmington"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wilmington sits in region of Massachusetts that is sadly bereft of protrusive terrain.\u00a0 Coming from hilly Connecticut, I quickly noticed the lack of sledding opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not all sad flatness, however.\u00a0 <a title=\"Sledding hill\" href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/place\/791+Main+St,+Wilmington,+MA+01887\/@42.533823,-71.1592953,729m\/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x89e30ac50d346045:0xd46f3f5d1a206ff1\" target=\"_blank\">We have a great prominence left by the glaciers at the south end of town<\/a>, by a local ball field.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not sure if the hill or the field have a name &#8211; Google Maps is currently mum.\u00a0 It appears to be about 100&#8242; high.<\/p>\n<p>From the road, you would never know a sledding track is there, except for the number of cars in the parking lot that appear immediately after a snowfall.<\/p>\n<p>There are two sledding tracks, one steeper than the other.\u00a0 The flatter one is a favorite of the little kids, but the &#8220;ruts&#8221; tend to be better defined on the steeper track (ironically, making that one the safer track as you&#8217;re less likely to drift off-course).<\/p>\n<div class=\"jetpack-video-wrapper\"><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uyyn4olkGj0?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wilmington sits in region of Massachusetts that is sadly bereft of protrusive terrain.\u00a0 Coming from hilly Connecticut, I quickly noticed the lack of sledding opportunities.
